    WoltLab Suite three.1

I go on getting "An unknown error occurred during the upload of a file." when trying to upload a very brusk video from my iPhone to the gallery. How practice I find out what is causing the fault? Which folder on my server has the fault logs?

The video starts to upload and only before information technology finishes the error occurs.

Enquire the provider. Server errors, if you have access usually are in /errors/mistake.log if y'all do non have access you demand to enquire support.

If you mean the logs of WSC / WCF they are usually in the folder /wcf/logs

    • #four

If you mean the logs of WSC / WCF they are normally in the binder /wcf/logs

I don't see a wcf folder on my server.

In public_html I have a log binder and the only thing in it is a .htaccess file.

    • #five

I don't run across a wcf binder on my server.

He must exist running an older version that uses the WCF binder. What you see is right, and if in that location'south no other files inside it then you take no logs created. Which you tin can check anyhow from the Admin CP nether logs to see if whatever have been generated.

Might be a modern you installed causing information technology

    • #6

Might exist a mod you installed causing it

    This what I take installed.

    • #7

You have no mods installed so. Must be your server host at fault.

    • #8

You accept no mods installed then. Must be your server host at fault.

    I doubt it.

    • #nine

    I doubtfulness it.

Why do you uncertainty it? You lot are running stock apps. And so what else can information technology be besides your host and or maybe a bad install gone wrong.

Can you upload the same video using a desktop PC, non a mobile device. Possibly it has something to practice with the video itself y'all're trying to upload.

    • #10

Best way to find out would be to simply consult the logs.

    • #11

So what else can it be likewise your host and or maybe a bad install gone wrong

I've got no f-ing idea, that'due south the reason for this thread. If someone from WoltLab would reply (like someone from XF or IPS would take by now) I could figure it out. It probably is something with my server but I can't tell my host what to look for without a reply from WoltLab staff here. I guess I'll have to create a back up ticket and wait.

    • #12

Yes just I can't find whatever.

    • #13

The forums are for user-to-user support. If you lot desire an answer from a WoltLab employee, you should use the ticket system. That being said, sunday is not a business twenty-four hours.

But yeah, they will probable also ask you lot for the logs, so brand sure to check the logs ;)

Yes but I can't discover whatever.

Then consult your hoster where to discover them. Somewhere in your hosters documentation this has to be described. Logs are essential, and every hoster I know offers easy access to them.

    • #14

Merely you do realize its lord's day ?

Anyway, check if you have entrys in your acp wcf logs and if not you need to ask your hoster for the php error logs.

    • #15

In that location are no errors on my sever or in the software logs.

Paul, how big is the video. It may be that your server has a max-upload limit fix smaller than the video size yous're trying to upload.

If you have admission to cPanel, or whatever is used, and can see PHP settings like max-upload. And so look at these two setting that might be stopping information technology. Even I tin change them on Shared Hosting if they are too small for you causing the problem. You should be able to change them also, as max-upload might be set to a default of 2mb for you

Paul, how big is the video.

    It'due south tiny, xix.7 MB.

    It's tiny, 19.7 MB.

Could still be more than enough to exceed the limit. The default (!) limits of PHP are two MB per file and eight MB in total per Request.

    • upload_max_filesize - The maximum size per file. (default: 2M)
    • post_max_size - Maximum size of data per request, must exist larger than upload_max_filesize. (default 8M)
    • memory_limit - The maximum amount of retentivity that PHP may consume, this must be larger than post_max_size. (default 128M)

And yeah, information technology is extremly common to run into hosters yet using these garbage default values today.

I accept just made some changes to mine now, I wasn't enlightened that some take to be set bigger than others similar you said. If yous make changes to the max-upload file size. I had max-mail service size set smaller than max-upload size.

Information technology is mutual for them to use stock PHP settings. When I switch from PHP 5.half dozen to 7.two in cPanel. Max upload was ready at default 2mb for PHP vii.two and stopped me from installing the FileBase app until I changed information technology. While PHP v.6 is set at 128mb for the same thing. So he should check those settings with his host

Alexander Ebert what would you recommend these values be?
